Grocott-Gomori methenamine–silver nitrate stain
a method for demonstrating actinomycetes and fungi in tissue. Sections are treated with chromic acid, stained with methenamine-silver nitrate solution, and counterstained with light green solution. Cells appear brown against a green background.
