serine-type carboxypeptidase

serine-type carboxypeptidase
ser·ine-type car·boxy·pep·ti·dase (sērґēn-tīp″ kahr-bok″se-pepґtĭ-dās) [EC 3.4.16] any of a group of exopeptidases that contain diisopropyl fluorophosphate–sensitive serine residues in their catalytic sites, have optimum activity at acid pH, and catalyze the hydrolytic cleavage of the C-terminal amino acid from a peptide chain. [EC 3.4.16.1] a specific serine-containing lysosomal carboxypeptidase catalyzing this reaction and acting on a variety of peptides.
