thallium-201 myocardial perfusion scintigraphy

thallium-201 myocardial perfusion scintigraphy
the most common type of myocardial perfusion scintigraphy; the radionuclide used is thallium 201 in the form of thallous chloride. It is most frequently performed in conjunction with exercise stress tests in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, but is sometimes performed on resting patients to detect transient ischemia or myocardial infarction. See also thallium stress test, under test.
