glucocorticoid resistance

glucocorticoid resistance
decreased sensitivity target tissues and a consequent elevation in circulating adrenocortical hormone levels, without the clinical features of Cushing syndrome; manifestations range from asymptomatic hyperadrenocorticism to syndromes of mineralocorticoid or adrenocortical androgen excess. It may be secondary to infectious, allergic, or inflammatory processes or result from sporadic or familial mutations in the glucorticoid receptor.
