Schiff reagent

Schiff reagent
a reagent for testing for the presence of aldehydes, prepared by dissolving 0.25 g of fuchsin in 1 liter of water and decolorizing by passing sulfur dioxide into it. In the presence of aldehyde the blue color is restored.
