anaphylactoid reaction
a reaction resembling generalized anaphylaxis but not caused by IgE-mediated allergic reaction, instead being due to nonimmunologic degranulation of mast cells with release of the pharmacological mediators involved in anaphylaxis. Called also anaphylactoid shock.
