purine-nucleoside phosphorylase

purine-nucleoside phosphorylase
pu·rine-nu·cleo·side phos·phor·y·lase (puґrēn nooґkle-o-sīd fos-forґə-lās) [EC 2.4.2.1] an enzyme of the transferase class that catalyzes the cleavage of purine nucleosides to form purines and ribose 1-phosphates in the degradation of nucleotides and nucleic acids. Absence of activity, an autosomal recessive trait, results in defective cell-mediated immunity.
