- psau·os·co·py (saw-osґkə-pe) [Gr. psauein to touch + -scopy] a method of physical examination done by passing the ball of the index finger back and forth lightly over the margin of an abnormal area. Over the pathological area the finger seems to encounter greater resistance and the skin seems more tense and less supple.
