- eosinophilic proctocolitis
- a manifestion of food allergy, consisting of inflammation of the mucosa of the rectum and colon with eosinophilic infiltration, usually in infants during the first two months of life; it is most often a reaction to cow's milk or soy milk formulas, although it may be provoked in breast-fed infants by food antigens passed in the mother's milk. Most affected infants appear healthy but have rectal edema and blood in the feces.
