acute polyradiculoneuritis
a common type of ascending paralysis in dogs, clinically similar to human Guillain-Barrй syndrome; ventral roots of spinal nerves, and other peripheral nerves, undergo segmental demyelination. It was first seen in hunting dogs that had had fights with raccoons. The exact etiology is unclear. Called also coonhound paralysis.
