poly·mi·cro·gy·ria (pol″e-mi″kro-jiґre-ə) [poly- + micro- + gyr- + -ia] a developmental anomaly of the brain characterized by development of numerous small convolutions (microgyri), causing mental retardation. Called also microgyria and polygyria.
