larkspur poisoning

larkspur poisoning
poisoning by the fresh leaves and roots of certain species of Delphinium (larkspur), which contain delphinine and other alkaloids. Ingestion may cause immediate death, probably from paralysis of the heart, but more often causes neurological symptoms of less rapid onset that may also end in paralysis and asphyxia.
