amnesic shellfish poisoning
a type of shellfish poisoning seen primarily in eastern Canada, caused by ingestion of shellfish that have consumed the diatom Nitschia pungens, which contains domoic acid. Symptoms include memory loss, sensorimotor neuropathy, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps.
