isobestic point

isobestic point
the wavelength at which two substances have the same absorptivity, such that if the sum of the concentrations of the compounds in solution is held constant, the absorbance at this point will be invariant as the ratio of the two compounds is varied; existence of one or more such points is indicative of chemical equilibrium between the two compounds.
