a pelvis with fusing of the transverse processes in the lumbar or sacral regions; a high-assimilation pelvis is one with fusing of the last lumbar vertebra and the sacrum, including six vertebral segments, and a low-assimilation pelvis is one with fusing of the last sacral vertebra with the first coccygeal body, including four vertebral segments.
