maternal obstetric palsy

maternal obstetric palsy
paralysis affecting some portion of the mother's lower limb due to compression of a nerve during delivery, usually when the fetus is large and the mother is small and has difficult labor. The most common cause is compression of the lumbosacral plexus or its nerves by the fetal head or forceps, resulting in unilateral footdrop.
