transthoracic pacing

transthoracic pacing
a temporary method for cardiac pacing in which a hooked pacing lead is attached to the ventricular endocardium by insertion through the chest wall or epigastric area and then the ventricular wall; it is used in emergency situations, usually cardiac arrest, as an alternative to transcutaneous pacing.
