Oomycota

Oomycota
Oo·my·co·ta (o″o-mi-koґtə) [oo- + Gr. mykēs fungus, from the large round oogonium] the water molds, a phylum of funguslike, filamentous organisms belonging to the Chromista and formerly classified with the fungi. They differ from the fungi in having a cell wall that consists of cellulose, reproducing sexually by biflagellate spores, and possessing diploid nuclei in the vegetative state. It includes plant and animal parasites and comprises the class Oomycetes and a number of organisms incertae sedis.
