central occlusion

central occlusion
centric occlusion occlusion in the vertical and horizontal position of the mandible in which the cusps of the mandibular and maxillary teeth interdigitate maximally. Ideally, the lingual cusps of the maxillary bicuspids make contact with the marginal ridges of the mandibular bicuspids and the marginal ridges of the second bicuspid and first molar. The mesial lingual cusps of the maxillary molar occlude in the central fossae of the mandibular molars, while the distal cusps of the maxillary molars occlude on the marginal ridges of the mandibular molars. Similarly, the supporting cusps of the mandibular teeth occlude on the marginal ridges and fossae of the maxillary molars and bicuspids.
