epidermal nevus
epithelial nevus any of various types of hamartoma of the epidermis representing developmental anomalies that produce faulty mature or nearly mature cutaneous structures as a result of overproduction of surface or adnexal epithelium. Many patients with these lesions have involvement of other organ systems; see epidermal nevus syndrome, under syndrome.
