any of several types of hamartomas involving components of connective tissue, usually present at or soon after birth; they may be inherited or acquired and may be associated with other diseases. There may be single or multiple nodules, papules, or plaques; the most common type is a plaque of firm, flat or cobblestoned, closely set, skin-colored papules.
