- a type of myelopathy with neuropathy, seen most often in a region of Nigeria where the diet is high in cassava, owing to incomplete processing of the cassava so that not all of its cyanide is removed. This results in cyanide poisoning with paraparesis and burning pain in the limbs; some patients have ocular symptoms such as amblyopia.
