- progressive hypertrophic neuropathy
- a condition characterized by hyperplasia of the interstitial connective tissue, causing thickening of peripheral nerve trunks and posterior roots, and by sclerosis of the posterior columns of the spinal cord. It is a slowly progressive familial disease beginning in early life, marked by atrophy of distal parts of the lower limbs, and by diminution of tendon reflexes and of sensation. Called also Dejerine disease, Dejerine-Sottas atrophy, disease, or n., interstitial hypertrophic neuritis, hereditary hypertrophic n., and hypertrophic interstitial n.
