neurofibrae autonomicae
[TA] autonomic nerve fibers: nerve fibers that innervate smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, and glandular epithelium. They either stimulate and activate the muscle or tissue (autonomic efferent fibers) or receive sensory impulses from them (autonomic afferent fibers). Called also neurofibrae viscerales and visceral nerve fibers.
