Neorickettsia
Neo·rick·ett·sia (ne″o-rĭ-ketґse-ə) [neo- + rickettsia] a genus of bacteria of the family Anaplasmataceae, consisting of gram-negative, nonmotile, coccoid or pleomorphic cells, occurring in cytoplasmic vacuoles in monocytes and macrophages. Organisms are transmitted by flukes and cause disease in canids, horses, and humans. The type species is N. helminthoeґca.
