- nano·phy·e·ti·a·sis (nan″o-fi″ə-tiґə-sis) infection by the fluke Nanophyetus salmincola after ingestion of contaminated fish. Human infection is usually mild, with bloating, cramping, and diarrhea. In dogs it causes salmon poisoning (q.v.), with rickettsiosis and a high fever that can be fatal.
