critical illness myopathy
severe muscle weakness, hypotonia, and depressed tendon reflexes of many different muscles in patients in intensive care units; in some it may be a complication of therapy with corticosteroids or neuromuscular blocking agents, but in others the cause is unknown. Called also acute quadriplegic m.
