- a serious and often fatal type of mushroom poisoning caused by ingestion of Amanita phalloides, A. verna, and probably other Amanita species that produce phalloidin; it is characterized by abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody stools, protein and casts in the urine, malaise, and cyanosis.
