[TA] sphincter urethrovaginalis muscle: origin, perineal body; insertion, passes lateral to the vagina on either side and blends with its partner anterior to the urethra below the compressor urethrae muscle; innervation, perineal branches of the pudendal nerve; action, accessory urethral sphincter and may facilitate closing the vagina.
