[TA] rotator muscles of neck: origin, transverse processes of cervical vertebrae; insertion, base of spinous process of superjacent vertebrae; innervation, spinal nerves; action, extend vertebral column and rotate it toward the opposite side. Called also musculi rotatores colli [TA alternative].
