[TA] lateral posterior intertransverse muscles of neck: small muscles passing between the posterior tubercles of adjacent cervical vertebrae, lateral to the intertransversarii posteriores mediales cervicis, innervated by anterior primary rami of spinal nerves, and acting to bend the vertebral column laterally. Called also musculi intertransversarii posteriores laterales colli [TA alternative].
