granulomatous meningoencephalitis

an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system of dogs, of unknown etiology, characterized by granulomatous accumulations of histiocytes, lymphocytes, and plasma cells around blood vessels in the white matter and meninges. Onset is acute, with subsequent seizures, dementia, and sometimes paralysis and blindness. Most animals die within two months. Called also granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis and inflammatory reticulosis.
