radiation hybrid map

radiation hybrid map
a physical map created by exposing a cell line containing a human chromosome to radiation, producing breaks in the chromosome; the resulting human chromosome fragments are then fused with rodent chromosomes, and the human fragments identified using amplification techniques; the frequency of breakage between, and subsequent separation of, two loci varies relative to their distance from each other.
