- 1. a congenital anomaly of the brain vasculature composed of arterial and venous channels with many interconnecting shunts without a capillary bed; clinical characteristics include hemorrhage, headache, and focal epileptic seizures. Large malformations may have cranial bruits. Called also arteriovenous angioma of brain.
