macropinocytosis

macropinocytosis
mac·ro·pino·cy·to·sis (mak″ro-pin″o-si-toґsis) (-pi″no-si-toґsis) [macro- + pinocytosis] pinocytosis in which large amounts of extracellular fluid are taken up by extension of the plasma membrane, with the formation of large vesicles (macropinosomes). Cf. micropinocytosis.
