croupous laryngitis

croupous laryngitis
a condition seen mainly in infants or small children and characterized by a resonant barking cough, hoarseness, and stridor. Infection, allergy, a foreign body, or a tumor may be the cause. Laryngeal diphtheria was once a common cause but is now rare.
