inositol-phosphate phosphatase

inositol-phosphate phosphatase
ino·si·tol-phos·phate phos·pha·tase (in-oґsĭ-tol fosґfāt fosґfə-tās) [EC 3.1.3.25] an enzyme of the hydrolase class that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of myo-inositol phosphate to form myo-inositol, acting on five of the six monophosphate isomers of myo-inositol phosphate (all except myo-inositol 2-phosphate). Inhibition of this reaction by lithium breaks the hormonally dependent cycle of degradation and regeneration of phosphoinositides. Formerly officially called myo-inositol-1 (or 4)-monophosphatase.
