C1 inhibitor

C1 inhibitor
(C1 INH) an α2-globulin of the serpin family that inhibits the complement component C1 (see under complement), binding the complex of C1r and C1s, removing it from C1q and preventing activation of the classical complement pathway. It also inhibits plasmin, thrombin, and kallikrein. Deficiency of or defect in the protein causes hereditary angioedema.
