1. fasting hypoglycemia in a neonate; those most at risk have diabetic mothers or are premature or small for gestational age. Leucine-induced hypoglycemia is a type that is hereditary. 2. hypoglycemia during the first week of life of piglets, a common cause of death; it may result from inadequate nursing, such as when there is a large litter, or from hypothermia. Called also h. of piglets.
