hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid

hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid
(HETE) hy·droxy·ei·co·sa·tet·ra·eno·ic ac·id (HETE) (hi-drok″se-i-ko″sə-tet″rə-e-noґik) any of several arachidonic acid metabolites produced by lipoxygenases from hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid. 5-HETE is a byproduct of leukotriene metabolism. 12-HETE and 5,12-HETE are chemotactic for neutrophils and eosinophils and 12-HETE and 15-HETE may inhibit leukotriene production.
