growth hormone–releasing hormone
(GH-RH) a neuropeptide elaborated in the hypothalamus that binds to specific receptors on the somatotrophs of the adenohypophysis and stimulates the secretion of growth hormone. Called also somatocrinin, somatoliberin, and somatotropin-releasing h.
