n.an antibiotic administered by injection used to treat infections of the lungs, bones, skin, and soft tissues caused by Gram-negative organisms (see Gram's stain). It is especially useful for treating lung infections in children with cystic fibrosis. Possible side-effects include skin rashes, diarrhoea, and vomiting. Trade name: Azactam.* * *
