het·ero·im·mu·ni·ty (het″ə-ro-ĭ-muґnĭ-te) 1. an immune state that results from the immunization of an animal of one species with cells of one of a different species. 2. a state in which the immune response by the body to exogenous antigens (including drugs and infectious agents) results in immunopathological changes.
