hal·o·fan·trine hy·dro·chlor·ide (hal″o-fanґtrēn) an antimalarial chemically related to quinine and mefloquine, effective against the asexual forms of Plasmodium in the blood stream; used in the treatment of acute falciparum and vivax malaria.
