Granulicatella

Granulicatella
Gran·u·lic·a·tel·la (gran″u-lik″ə-telґə) a genus of gram-positive bacteria of the family Carnobacteriaceae, found growing in satellite colonies around other bacteria, especially Streptococcus aureus; many are penicillin-resistant. They are found as normal flora in the upper respiratory, urogenital, and gastrointestinal tracts, and have been implicated in some cases of bacterial endocarditis. The type species is G. adiacens.
