glycoprotein Mac-1

glycoprotein Mac-1
a β2 integrin (CD11b/CD18) expressed on monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, and NK cells that mediates leukocyte adhesion and serves as a receptor for inactivated complement fragment C3b (iC3b) and for some carbohydrates of certain bacteria and yeasts; it also plays a role in antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. It comprises an α and a β chain; the latter is common also to CR4. Called also Mac-1 and complement receptor 3 (CR3).
