- intercapillary glomerulosclerosis
- a degenerative complication of diabetes mellitus in which there is glomerular mesangial expansion with either diffuse or nodular lesions; the nodular lesions are known as Kimmelstiel-Wilson lesions. Symptoms include albuminuria, nephrotic edema, hypertension, renal insufficiency, and retinopathy. Called also diabetic g. The type with nodular lesions is also called Kimmelstiel-Wilson syndrome.
