exaggerated alternation of lateral trunk movements with an exaggerated elevation of the hip, suggesting the gait of a duck or penguin; characteristic of muscle diseases such as progressive muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, and sometimes Guillain-Barrй syndrome.
