Flavobacteriaceae

Fla·vo·bac·te·ri·a·ceae (fla″vo-bak-tēr″e-aґse-e) a family of bacteria of the phylum Bacteroidetes, consisting of gram-negative, aerobic or anaerobic, non–spore-forming, short to moderately long rods; flagella are generally absent and organisms are nonmotile or move by gliding. Most are soil or water saprophytes; some are pathogenic. Genera of medical interest are Capnocytophaga, Flavobacterium, and Riemerella.
