Rosenthal fibers

Rosenthal fibers
thick, elongated, irregular, eosinophilic structures that contain heat shock proteins and ubiquitin and occur within the processes of astrocytes. They are associated with long-standing gliosis and also are seen in certain astrocytomas and in Alexander disease.
